Costs

One of the first questions most people ask is, "How much is this going to cost?" In most cases, I'll be able to answer that before I start work.

I don't charge by the hour. Instead, I'll provide you with a fixed fee quote based on the work we've agreed I'll do for you. That way, you'll know what my professional fees will be before you decide whether to proceed.

If your instructions change, or your matter becomes more complicated and requires work beyond what we've originally agreed, I'll let you know before I do any additional work and discuss any additional fees with you.

I don't charge extra for routine office expenses like printing, photocopying or telephone calls. And because I don't charge by the hour, you don't need to hesitate before picking up the phone or sending me an email if you have a question.

If paying your account all at once is going to be difficult, please let me know. In many cases, I'm happy to arrange a payment plan.

The fees below are a guide for straightforward matters. Every matter is different, so I'll usually need to have a chat with you before I can tell you what it's likely to cost. Once I've had a chance to discuss your circumstances with you, I'll provide you with a fixed fee quote before you decide whether to proceed. If there are sensible ways for you to reduce your legal costs by doing part of the work yourself, I'll let you know.

For straightforward matters, my fees are generally as follows:
